Snowchange winter seining team is harvesting vendace on the ice. Fish has been coming, but since end of January the conditions have turned harder. Slush ice combined with water on top of the ice and warmer weather affects the harvests.
In early part of the year Snowchange also worked to secure ecological corridor in Näätimäisjoki river in Suomussalmi to be included into the LRP. Currently negotiations are under way in many other sites towards the spring.
Oral history with with the Gwichin is also under way in Tsiigehtchic, NWT, Canada as a part of the Arctic Passion. Snowchange joins forces once again with the Department of Culture and Heritage and Professor Leslie McCartney on assessing and supporting inclusion of Indigenous Knowledge into Arctic Passion.
