Today, the Google.org Impact Challenge on Climate has granted Snowchange a major support for the rewilding work. The award is given for “rewilding depleted peatlands sites which are natural carbon sinks to mitigate climate change, support biodiversity and support enabling technologies and alternative land-use all integrating the indigenous communities and their knowledge.“
Google.org Impact Challenge on Climate support will enable Snowchange to advance the measurements of the greenhouse gas exchanges on peatlands and expand the capacity of rewilding actions significantly over the next 24 months. These actions also include development of online platforms, community support and safeguarding of biodiversity on the rewilding sites.
The Google.org Impact Challenge on Climate support for the Snowchange rewilding efforts is the biggest single contribution to these efforts and Snowchange looks forwards to this transformative partnership.
